It has been over two years since I've posted on our blog! I've thought about it many times, but when I've went to the page, there was some changes and icons in places that didn't look right and I couldn't figure out how to make changes and did not really have the time to keep trying. Well, we still have a few in the wrong place, but it is time to start blogging again! :)
Today, we were getting ready for our youth group party that is at our home. We had used a candle and pine cones as table centerpieces for Jay's company party last weekend and we got them out to use them again. Jonah, Gabriella and Sophia had collected some huge acorns from a tree behind our house and we decided to add them to the arrangement. When Jonah brought me his bucket of acorns, I noticed that all the cute little caps had fallen off them.
The younger kids and I sat there for about an hour trying to match the caps to each acorn and hot glue them on top of each one. It wasn't as easy as I thought and it quickly became clear that each acorn had a cap perfectly designed to fit it. It made me think of how as a parent I sometimes try to fit our kids into a certain mold. I have to remind myself that God made each of them different, not just on the outside, but on the inside too. For me, it has been easy to accept the physical differences we see visibly each day, but sometimes difficult to accept those we can't see that are hidden within each of us. Like acorns with perfect fitting caps, we were created individually by the hands of our Creator, each with the gifts and attributes He chose for each of us.
